From the Journal of Seff the Sunfang, Part 3

I failed to mention in my last post a most important fact - we were able to deliver the Codex of First Light to the Chantry here in Aun. They were most pleased and with that, I opened the honorbound pouch of coins, finding 4 gold within as promised.

I write this from my bedside, having been humbled by the gods. Last night, after celebrating our success and good fortunes we were beset upon by forces most vile! A well-armed band of thugs, brigands the guard called them, infiltrated the Manor in which we stayed, trashed the place, and wounded Vektra, Marinn, and myself.

Worse yet, they had some cultist with them who kept trying to summon some evil. Luckily the guards heard the commotion and showed up before any such being could be conjured. However, the bandits escaped into the night. The guard think that we were deliberately targeted, and I can't disagree. A gauntlet has been thrown by these mysterious bandits.

Blessedly, Vektra and Marinn have escaped with minimal injuries, though Vektra's shortsword was bent and broken in the scrap. I, however, have suffered a dislocation of my shoulder and the local healer says I'm lucky as I've barely missed a complete tear of the joint there. Praise be the Sun for this blessing.

I shall be out of commission for a few days I fear, and this as we've found rumor of a small hamlet outside of Aun. The 'band wants to investigate, but I fear sending them in without my leadership. They are all fresh, or of a one track mind. I shall inquire at the healer's tomorrow but for today.. we rest.

The town healer has done wonders with my injury, they have made various brews and poultices that have bolstered my recovery. This did not come cheap, costing a full gold mark, but I feel well enough to travel with the party to this unknown Hamlet on the morrow.
