13 - Goodbye, Elarion Prime
Captain's Report 4000.04.08
We came to Elarion Prime following the tragic attack on Quintara IV a ragtag band of misfits, but we've left as a true crew. On Elarion Prime we met some fine folks, such as Governor Valona Salaza and some not so great ones - everyone we met at the Orange Sea Mining Company.
Elarion Prime is a better place thanks to our having been there, and that's enough for me. We helped the Governor with some nasty business and, in turn, she was true to her word and got us some leads to track down the killers of my father: The Warpjack Marauders. My hope is she'll continue to be a valuable ally, though as she rises in power on Elarion who knows - power changes people.
We cleared out them Sand Runners, quelled an Isolationist Uprising, defeated a mercenary band of Rage Lizards attempting to fortify a secret research facility AND control access to the river, ran off a Unity patrol, and made a rival of that vile Orange Sea Mining Company all in a couple week's work! Not bad if you ask me, not bad at all.
Most importantly? No deaths on the crew. Some injuries, sure, as is bound to happen as we play laser tag with lead, explosives and, well, actual lasers.
Speaking of injuries, Juniper is taking to her new arm quite well, I've asked her to train with it and to improve her battlefield tactics in general. Love the girl but just 'cuz you've got a shotty don't mean you need to charge wildly at every foe imaginable. She's been harder on herself than any of us but she'll be okay, I know she'll pull through - she's a tough one.
Her and Lira have become fast friends, great to see that. Lira came to us a loner - of all of us I figured she'd be the first to bounce. Now? She's settling in and I don't think she'll EVER willingly leave this crew, this family. Probably the first she's ever had - tough life as a mutant. Ain't fair, but best we can do for the wrongs of her past is provide her a warm and welcoming future.
Dax been growing on me too, I need to sit down and have a man-to-man with him, put those misunderstandings behind us - though he does keep insisting there's something off with Dravik and... I'm starting to believe him. Dravik is too smooth, too skilled of an operator to be this bumbling dolt he's claimed to be - expected to be - as a Manipulator. Everyone figures they sit in Unity High Council all day pushing papers but not Dravik. We'll have to get to the bottom of that...
Silas continues to be an enigma. I don't see how no one can be so devoted to a cause as he is to that Abyss of his, but he's a good one and he keeps his preacherizing to himself unless one of us asks for it and that's fine by me as that happens to be my preferred amount of preachering. We didn't find no solid clues regarding his Abyss on Elarion Prime this time, but maybe Dustmire or a future hop will yield what he seeks.
As for me, I've been better to be honest, but I won't rest until I have revenge for my father and all those researchers and other poor souls on Quintara IV who died because they wouldn't cowtow to petty pirates. We will avenge you folks, I promise.
I grow concerned that Ember is breaking her containment. I asked the crew after the last mission and none of us popped that drone, Magnus' shuttle would've been too far away and didn't looked armed neither... I selected the Emberhawk due to our research at Quintara IV but I didn't realize Pops had installed a working backup on the ship!
Speaking of the Emberhawk, finally remembered to change the transponder seeing as we're going out on the high seas again. She'll now be known as The Riftrunner, though Ember will retain her name, just felt right.
Well, that's about it. We're all loaded up now. The journey to Dustmire should only take a couple jumps and the Emberhawk er, the Riftrunner, has plenty of fuel. The Riftrunners are coming for you Warpjacks! For the people of Dustmire, for Quintara IV, and the countless ships you've marauded in the Quintara Sector. The Riftrunners, yeah I like that.
Signed,
Zev
Captain of the Riftrunner
