From the Journal of Seff the Sunfang, Part 2

10 Lielah, 1097

Brother Kendrick and I had lunch today. I informed him of our Holy Cause and he nodded with approval. He has need of our services, wishing to see a Consecrated Tome delivered to the Chantry at Aun. "It's not too far out of your way to Saur, being along the King's Road," he persuaded me.

I agreed, wanting to help my old friend, and Brother Kendrick in turn supplied four Gold Marks for our efforts only to be spent at the completion of our task, on my honor. We shall not fail him. He and I sparred in the Kel-Tiger style of my people, the Feral who founded the Kel-Tiger Temple of Ere. The practice was welcomed, for we have had few opportunities to do battle around Ere.

After our bout Brother Kendrick and I ate a hearty dinner where I introduced him to the members of our warband:

Gerik, our latest follower hailing from the southern farmlands of Ozetin, a strapping young lad who hasn't lost the hope and optimism of youth.

Marinn, another Human from Ozetin, she was my guide on a journey to Oll a year ago, during our last campaign.

Vektra, a Fey-blood from the Deep Below, she wields a large crossbow and has saved my life on multiple occasions.

Shriek, our newest Hero, a Preen barbarian of unknown heraldry. He speaks little, letting his giant sword do most of the talking. Quick to anger and even quicker to disappear in town - he always manages to find our band when adventure is afoot.

And finally, our mutual friend Lorien Thistlebright, a Halfling mystic of some renown hailing from the woods around Ere. Aside from his staff, Lorien would hardly register as a mystic to the layperson, he is humble in dress and demeanor but do not let that fool you, he is a powerful mage who can manipulate the strands as well as any.

We ate amiably for over an hour and I couldn't help but ponder on the nature of our task and ask myself how many of us would return from this Holy Cause? I can only pray to the Sun to guide and protect us.

Alas, the night grows late and I must turn in, as we have a sparring session scheduled with Captain Thoss and the City Guard in the morning, before we depart on our journey.

Our sparring match with Captain Thoss could not have gone better. We didn't suffer a single wound while incapacitating all of Thoss' guards including his second, Fargo. We used the tavern as a wedge to divide Thoss' forces and then engaged them on favorable terms, I can only hope we find such fortune out in the wildlands.

We depart for Aun in a few hours, I feel we are prepared, or at least as prepared as we can be.

Brother Kendrick insisted I take two pouches of the valuable Silvertree Leaf for our journey, I thanked him kindly and added these provisions to the Silvertree Leaf and Bandages I had acquired earlier in the day. Then, without much fanfare, we exited the Northern Gates onto the King's Road prepared for danger...

...A danger that never came as we were able to walk to Aun without issue. King Runeheart's roads are so well patrolled that we barely even saw a stray wolf on the road to Aun. On the King's Road we met with a priest of the Moon who was friendly enough. He asked after the "dangers" of the road as he journeys southwards to Ere, from whence we have recently come. After sharing niceties, and assuring him of the safety of the road, we continued and then completed our journey to Aun.

Having arrived in Aun safely, we shall stay the night here and depart toward Oll and then Saur in the morning. Sun willing the journey shall be safe and swift.
